Job Description Summary:

The Director of Education & Staff Development is primarily responsible for the orientation, training and educational programs of the organization and supports the development of educational offerings to improve customer satisfaction and client outcomes that meet or exceed Federal and State benchmarks. Demonstrates the capacity to engage staff in on-going activities that serve to articulate the Core Values of the organization as well as training excellence in all areas. In addition to education and training, the Director of Education has the primary responsibility for the development, revision and maintenance of all company policies and procedures.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

A. Responsible for the development, implementation and timely updating of comprehensive new-hire orientation programs, staff training, yearly competencies, ongoing education programs and specialty programs. Development is based on needs analysis including input from agency staff, office staff, management and other sources as appropriate to meet the needs of the organization.

B. Conducts the research, development, review and editing of program curriculum and client health education programs. Ensures agencies are tracking and meeting state-specific education requirements.

C. Conducts program planning and implementation including the design of the education programs, pathways, materials and facilitation requirements, working in conjunction with other departments as required.

D. Facilitates the effective delivery of education products to staff through the utilization of Adult Learning Theory and accommodation for adult learning styles to provide relevant and sustainable education programs; identifies and provides resources for ongoing education programs to all staff on a monthly basis.

E. Provides oversight for the Education Committee regarding the development and approval of policies, forms, collateral, procedures, specialty programs, competencies and orientation and training for employees.

F. Evaluates, modifies and/or develops new policies and procedures related to all company programs, procedures and practices.

G. Assists with performance improvement and/or accreditation activities or other assignments as directed by the Director of Regulatory Compliance & Performance Improvement or as needed to achieve team objectives and goals.

H. Ensures organization is meeting infection control regulations (Federal, State, accreditation requirements) and maintaining up to date practices.

I. Provides coordination and oversight for the Emergency Management Planning for the organization and ensures regulatory compliance.

Position Qualifications:

1. Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia is required.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, Public Health or related field of study is preferred.
3. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a professional nurse with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory and/or education/training experience and three (3) years of home health care experience.
4. Prior experience with oversight of home health accreditation (JCAHO, CHAP and/or ACHC) preferred.
5. Knowledge of home health, private duty, chronic care management along with a comprehensive understanding of Federal, State and accrediting body regulations.
6. Demonstrated knowledge of Adult Learning Theory and adult learning styles along with theoretical/didactic knowledge to plan, coordinate and evaluate simple to complex training activities.
7. Demonstrated ability to function in an autonomous role with minimal supervision.
8. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, writing, communications, presentation and verbal skills.
9. Proficiency in computer skills for development of visual materials
10. Ability to work flexible hours as required meeting identified company needs including overnight travel.
